Original black ink on linen (and an original blue-line copy): "Projected Location of the Kush-Ta-Ka Souterhn Railway", 1" = 2000', by J.L. McPherson (undated, c1909), about 30 x 60", the original copy; and a second pair of maps "Conroller Bay", about 30 x 40", 1904, early Federal printed map with copy. These maps come from the files of J.L. McPherson, the engineer who made the map. This rail line was proposed by company president Charles F. Munday, who owned coal mines along the propoesed route. The approved route ran from a point at tidewater on Controllers Bay to a point on the west bank of LAke kush-Ta-Ka, and other points. Branch lines were proposed to Carbon, Charlotte and Keynak. While the actual existance of the line is unknown at present and deserves more research, at least part of the line was built and is discussed on several internet sites that mention parts of the railway grade still in existance. Part of the rail line ran along the Bearing River and accessed a significanr Alaska Development headquarters site. The site of this rail line is in the far southeast part of the main body of Alaksa.
