1) FANTASTIC. We have not had the privilege of selling the certificate before. And the most fantastic part of this certificate is the vignette. It clearly shows how the company was bringing down the quartz through a series of placer ditches! #121 for 5 shares to WS Morrow. Dated 1886 Harrisburg, Pa. Signed by treasurer Machlin, secretary Demming and president Godge(?). Striking gold underprint with '$50'. Small rip top left - otherwise great condition with no obvious issues. The Marion Bullion Company Mine is at Brackettown near the headwaters of South Muddy Creek in McDowell County. A number of quartz veins were prospected, and a 126-foot-deep shaft were sunk on a series of six, narrow, closely spaced veins. The quart contains galena, sphalerite, chalcopyrite, and pyrite. Assays of the quartz ran from two-tenths to one ounce of gold and silver per ton. 2) Also 1880 Copper Knob Mining Company. #594 for 100 shares to David Lapsley. Signed y president Flint and secretary Mulford. Location: Gap Creek, Ashe County.
