Signed by Brumagini as Vice President and Robert Cranford as Assistant Secretary. Uncancelled. Vignette of allegorical woman and bear (Seal of State of California), and farmers at center top. Five red and two green assessments on reverse. Printed by National Bank Note Co., New York. This company was one of several established from part of the original Rancho Las Mariposas estate, a Spanish land grant owned by John C. Fremont, which he had purchased from Juan Alvarado in the 1840s. In the 1880s it was reorganized as the Mariposa Mining & Commercial Company.
