Common stock certificate # A458 for 24 shares dated February 17th, 1880 made out to Charles H. King. Signed by Mark Baumagim, Vice President, and by Robert Cranford, Asst. Secretary. Incorporated on June 25, 1863 and capitalized at $10,000,000; 100,000 shares at $100 each. Vignette at top center of allegorical woman, seated next to a bear, and men farming in the background. “Eureka” is printed at the woman’s feet. Orange border, black print. Uncancelled. Datelined New York. 8 x 12.5.” The company had also issued preferred stock at $5,000,000; 50,000 shares at $100 each issued as a similarly designed certificate except printed with a blue border. Solomon Heydenfeldt, a well-known San Franciscan attorney and former California State Supreme Court Justice, was President of the company. The company issued bonds at $1000 per at 7% in 1875. This company was one of several established from part of the original Rancho Las Mariposas estate, a Spanish land grant owned by John C.
