Mason Tire & Rubber Co. organized in 1915 by O.M. and D.M. Mason. Construction began Jan. 1916, manufacturing of tires started in summer. Company grew fast doubling sales each year as plant increased in size. Plant purchased in Bedford to manufacture tires for just one contract with Ford Motors for 5,000 tires a day. Ran color ads in main publications including the Saturday Evening Post. When Panic of 1921 occurred the company was over extended and the Mason brothers resigned. New management came in but were unable to pay off debts. The company closed on March 8, 1930. Prag collection.
