White settlers began to arrive in Lander County in 1862-63. Many settled around the Reese River in hopes of striking it rich. Though several mining camps emerged in those early years, only two survived to the mid 1860s. A few more mining camps were established in the 1870s and 80s, but they too failed. Mining success from Austin drew many away from the area [Paher, Nevada Ghost Towns & Mining Camps, 1970, p. 159] Not listed in Filer. Silas Fuller is listed as a speculator in the 1864 Langley directory. The mining company is not listed.
