Lot of 7. 1) Pictorial billhead for M. Oberfelder, Wholesale & Retail Dealer in Wines, Liquors, Tobacco & Cigars. Dateline Eureka, Nev., May 1, 1879. Billed to H. Johnson for groceries, brandy and cork. Vignette of whiskey barrels and crate with whiskey names on the barrels. 2) 1882 pictorial letterhead and full-face advertising cover for The Amazon Distiller Co. of Covington, KY, Oberfelder Bro's & Co. Agents, San Francisco. Sent to Hamilton, Nevada. 3) Different pictorial SF letterhead (1880) and pictorial SF billhead (1881), both for purchases from Montana Territory. 4) Tombstone, A.T. billhead, 1883, Oberfleder & Co. (stamped over P.W. Smith & Co.). Billed to the Santa Rosa Mining Co. for ore sacks. 5) Pictorial check for Oberfelder & Co., Tombstone, Arizona, 1885. Stamped "Bothin, Gillson & Preddey Successors To" Vignette of store at left! Oberfelder was a Louisville, Kentucky whiskey distiller who moved to Eureka, Nevada in 1875. He left for SF in 1880 and went into business with his brother as agents for Amazon Distilling Co. They bought the P.W. Smith and Company (H. Salomon) liquor and general merchandise business in Tombstone about 1883. They sold this business in 1887. For more info, please see Volume One of the Nevada Bottle Book.
