Lot of 5. 1) Small glass bottle, 1" diameter, 7/8" tall with half inch opening. Flat bottom, no pontil, smooth lip, very fine, no damage. The mouth of this bottle is disproportionally large, suggesting the need for a large instrument entry, such as a pen, or the need for a large exit, such as a few large pills. Its exact use is unknown. 2) Davis Vegetable Pain Killer bottle. Davis//Vegetable//Pain Killer. Aqua in color, open pontil. Approximately 4.75 inches x 1.75 inches x 1 inch, neck length is 1 inch. Double ringed neck. Broken left side approximately 2.50 inches x .50 inch. "Davis was a very popular product in its day. Invented in 1839-40 by Perry Davis and patented in 1845, it was in use for decades thereafter, including during the Civil War. The medicine itself was a mixture of alcohol, opium, and other herbal analgesics." from Antique-Bottles.Net 3) Small clear glass drug vial. Tapered neck with rimmed lip. 2.25x.5". No apparent chips or cracks. 4) Clear glass vial, possibly for drugs or medicine. Tapered top with crudely formed lip. No stopper present. 2.5x.5" Small surface ding on body, no apparent chips or cracks. 5) Unusual wood covered, glass stoppered, threaded lip like broken bottle. Original bottle purpose was probably medical in nature. Some wood remains. Original bottle size was about 3x2.25", about 40% of bottle glass is broken off. Small glass and wood fragments in a plastic bag. 1" of glass stopper present.
