This 79 page document are the memories of a missionary Catholic Priest Father William Westerhoven who spent 1924-1953 in Hunan Provence, China. The stories are not chronological but hugely interesting. He witnessed the execution of thieves; a Buddhist Monk walking a dead man to his grave and was told that only a select few knew how to do it. He survived a Japanese bombing; and experienced the brutality of Communism first-hand in 1952. This copy is one of five known to exist. His faith never left him when death was close-at-hand and wrote about his experiences in 1982. He passed in 1990 at the age of 95. City: State: Date:1924-1953
