Deposit no. 428 by CTH Palmer for Wells, Fargo & Co. One bar, 42 ounces. Interestingly, this bar has gold silver ratios more like the Comstock: 212 gold fineness, 713 silver fineness. Signed by Walton for Treasurer of the Branch Mint. Red print on blue paper. Clearly as a result of springing up during the California Gold Rush, this mint form has preprinted, "Grains, California" under Description of Bullion. 4.25 x 11" Tear on top, two pieces missing along bottom border. Palmer was a banker and assayer in Folsom and later Gold Hill, Nevada Territory.
