He is acknowledged as a founding father of the cinema of the United States and the most commercially successful producer-director in film history. He formed this company in 1919 and bought airplanes and airfields in Los Angeles (airfields at Crescent Blvd. [now Fairfax Ave.] and Melrose, and DeMille Airfield at Wilshire Blvd).
