Rare. Location: Virginia Mining District (printed at top). The stock actually says "On Mt. Davidson" which we haven't seen before. The dateline ("City of Virginia, N.T.") is also unique. No. 620, issued for 5 shares to H Schmarge on June 16, 1864. Incorporated February 5, 1863. Signed by T Shea and by president Joseph Atwill. Not cancelled. Blue print on creme paper, eagle vignette. Red '1,000,000' underprint. Enterprise Print. Newspaper of Samuel Clemens/Mark Twain. In 1861 Joseph Atwill was elected the first Justice of the Peace for Virginia City, Utah Territory. Atwill is listed eight times in the Carson County Records including a survey of timber and water rights in Steamboat valley on July 12, 1860. He was a true pioneer of the Comstock!
