Fantastic little collection containing examples from six different meteorite falls! From top left in Riker box: Sikhote-Alin, Russia (iron-nickel, fell Feb. 12th, 1947); NW-869 brecciated chondrite, literally condensed "stardust" that differentiated to form planets, found in Africa in 2000; unidentified iron-nickel Chinese meteorite (top right); Gold Basin Arizona chondrite (bottom right); Canyon Diablo (middle bottom), iron-nickel, part of the impactor that created Meteor Crater in Arizona 50,000 years ago; and Campo del Cielo, Argentina, iron-nickel, fell 4,000 years ago (bottom left). Largest are 1.25". All housed in 5 x 6" Riker box. Meteorites are the oldest rocks in our solar system, and how we were able to come up with an age for the Earth. Iron-nickel meteorites are believed to represent the shattered cores of differentiated planetesimals. This is a great group that would jumpstart a meteorite collection!
