Cert. #260, issued in 1866 for 10 shares to Samuel J. Reeves. Mining works near Austin, Nevada printed on the bottom. This is a scarce certificate. The non-descript bond from this company turns up now and then, but not this common share certificate. The Reese River district covered a mineral area of 15 square miles. It was formed in 1862. The mines of Pony Canyon had the first discoveries. Austin, NV was located as the county seat soon thereafter. Mines in this area of Lander County produced on average, $296.26/ton but as much as $600-$1000/ton (Davis, History of Nevada, 2009). The certificate has some foxing and small crack in left border. VG+. Uncancelled. Rare. City: Austin State: Nevada Date: HWAC# 51215
