Small but fantastic cut ore specimen with visible native silver! Attached to cardboard label which makes it out of the famous Gottschalk Collection. Label reads: "13 Gold + Argentite "Mexican" Comstock Lode." Specimen measures 1.25 x 0.5 x 1.5" and weighs 41.2g with label. The Mexican Mine was located in Virginia City adjacent to the Ophir. In 1877, the Bonanza Firm (Mackay, Fair, Flood, & O'Brien) took over control of the mine and explored it extensively, but without returns, into the 1880s.
