Nice combination. Revolves around the annexation of the lands that would become California, Nevada, Arizona, etc. 1) Print of the painting of the Jan 8, 1847 of charge of the left wing of Commodore Stockton at the River Gabriel near Stockton. This is part of the series “Naval Sketches of the War in California”. Number 9. The Battle of Rio San Gabriel, was a decisive action of the California campaign of the Mexican–American War and occurred at a ford of the San Gabriel River. Today this comprises parts of the cities of Whittier, Pico Rivera and Montebello, about ten miles south-east of downtown Los Angeles. William H. Meyers was a gunner on the U.S. Sloop-of-War Dale. 2) 30 x 22 ½” broadside of the Mexican War. "Seat of War & Battles.” Includes Major generals on both sides of the fight and major battles.
