Michael H. DeYoung was the mastermind behind the California Midwinter International Exposition of 1894, that operated from January 27 to July 5 in San Francisco's Golden Gate Park. Here are two souvenirs from the Expo: 1) beautiful uncirculated aluminum medal with panorama of the Park on one side and about 22 lines of prose on the reverse proclaiming the virtues of San Francisco "Metropolis of the Western Coast." 44 mm. 2) Official's badge (31 x 26 mm) with top holes for hanging and the California grizzly bear.
