Lot of two identical letters from the Midas Gold Saving Machinery Company, located in San Francisco. E.C. Hughes, President. Letterhead has vignette at top of the Gold King Amalgamator, which is the device that they are pitching in the letter to prospective mining clients. According to the letter, the device accomplishes "the two essentials in plate amalgamation...repeated contact with the amalgamating surface without scouring, and ignoring specific gravity." Two models, No. 1 and No. 0 are offered for sale at prices of $350 and $200 respectively. According to an 1895 article in the Engineering and Mining Journal, the company reported sales to Keystone Mining Company (Amador), and Idlewild Mine (Placer), among others (Vol. 60).
