Reese River Mining District, Lander County, N.T. (Nevada Territory). Inc. May 27, 1863 under the laws of Nevada Territory. No. 147. Issued 1/26/1865 in Austin. Signed by E.S. Davis (president) and William Pardy (secretary). Green background and font. Enterprise Print. 3.75" x 9.25" There is no record of this mining company in Browne or Abbe. Information on this mine is difficult to find. However, randomly pursuing the Reese River Reveille, I was able to find some information on this mine. July 22, 1863: The newspaper mentions the incorporation of this mining company. One thing I have always wondered is, who is this mine named for. No stock certificates mention a Mills, a Post, or a White. This article mentions the incorporators: RH White, HA Mills, AA Simmons, George May, and AN Smith. Two down - one to go. August 5, 1863: The tunnel of the Mills, Post & White mine is now about 70'. They expect to "tap the ledge" at 100 feet. They mention the mine is just north of town between the lower city (Austin) and the upper city (Clifton). It is located in the "sag." December 15, 1863: The mine is located on Lander Hill.
