Wow! 28 letters mostly on Mimbres letterhead from Thomas B Pheby talking about his work on the lease. The Mimbres was formed around 1870 and ended operations in the 1890's. Georgetown (a ghost town in New Mexico near Silver City) was reportedly named for George Magruder who was the vice president of the Mimbres around 1870. They are addressed to Thomas F Mason who was also the president of the Quincy Mining Company in Michigan. These two companies are also connected by their same address in New York City. The letters have been reviewed by Homer E. Milford of Santa Fe and he provides additional insight. "...if I ever found a surveyor within one mile of the mine I would kill him." "I have located 55 ft of the wedge shaped ground between the Naiad Queen and the Commercial Mines which I am satisfied is vacant." "...giving each man or party of me his boundary to work out..." "I am going for silver." "In answer I would say I am well provided with pistols.." Lots of legal issues keep popping up. Many of the letters are 5 or 6 pages long. Fabulous!
