One-piece steel stick, marked W. H. LAUNDER. M.F G R on side of shaft. There are two large indentations on the handle that appear to be place purposely. This stick measures 7.25." According to Wilson and Bobrink this stick is unique, and only one other is known. Wilson-Bobrink #29. This is #29 in Wilson’s candlestick book. W. H. Launder's name appears on a few crudely made candlesticks but very little was known as to who he was or where he practiced his trade. Recently, Leo Stambaugh ran across a billhead with the W. H. Launder General Blacksmith Horseshoer label at the top with a Gregory Street, Central City, CO shop location dated June 1st, 1892. The bill is signed as paid by W. H. Launder. It would appear that the Launder stick is another in the line of Colorado candlesticks. See Stambaugh, Eureka #33. Length 7 in. City: Central City State: Colorado Date: 1892
