This is the iron bucket that was filled with rock at the bottom of a mining shaft and hauled up to be processed either as ore or waste. This bucket is approximately two-and-a-half feet tall at the opening, and two feet in diameter. The bail at the top adds another foot-and-a-half. The bottom of the bucket has rusted away. See image for construction details.
