Small (7 x 3.5") wanted poster for Roy DeAutremont, one of three brothers who held up a Southern Pacific train in the Siskiyou Mountains on Oct. 11, 1923. $15,900 gold reward offered. One side shows the blown-up mail car. The other has a picture and description of Roy. Deep creases, some soiling, and separation along crease. Roy and his brothers Ray and Hugh attempted to rob the mail car which was believed to be carrying $40,000. However, the explosion was much more powerful than they predicted, killing the mail clerk inside instantly and causing a partial tunnel collapse. In the ensuing chaos, the brothers killed three more of the railroad employees and fled the scene without getting any of the money. They were eventually caught using new forensic science techniques. The event was known as the "Siskiyou Massacre." (Prag Collection) Date: Location: Silverton, Oregon HWAC # 55612
