Here we have a beautiful Navajo rug. It is called a " Yei" rug. It is 16" tall x 20 3/4" wide. Very fine, close knit , wool representation. Browns, pale blues, and beige colorizations throughout this specimen. The " Yei " Navajo rugs began in the Northwest corner of the reservation, in the early part of the 20th century. Developed by Will Evans, who was the trader & owner of Shiprock Trading Company. The " Yei" are the religious deities, which were taken from the Navajo sand paintings The square headed ones shown on this blanket are the Female deities. Rare in brown, and in this extra fine condition. Would look great framed & mounted on the wall, or used on a nightstand. (RH). City: State: New Mexico Date: 1960's Or Earlier
