Lot of over 50 documents, mostly from government entities but including several organizations based in Missoula, MT. Most dated late 19th century. Most government documents are business licenses issued by Missoula County dated 1868 along with a few modern era licenses from the early 1960s. Organizations represented include the Republican Central Committee of Missoula County, all dated 1889, as well as announcements from Montana Wesleyan University (1902) and MT State University (1952). Note: Missoula is located in far west central Montana and is the seat of Missoula County. Missoula was first settled in 1858 and founded in 1860 as Hellgate Trading Post. By 1866 the settlement moved 5 miles upstream on Rattlesnake Creek and renamed Missoula Mills, later shortened to Missoula.
