Rare early tin mining stock. Cert. #646, issued for one share to Mary T. Andrews in St. Louis in March 1871. Signed by N. Schaeffer as president and Woodward as secretary. Not cancelled. Vignette at the center of miners running ore through sluice boxes. There is also an elk vignette at the top left and the Missouri state seal at top right. Black on creme. In red, "Capital Stock, $200,000." Twenty-five cent Internal Revenue stamp at bottom right. Creases, some wrinkles. 7 x 10.75" The company was a joint stock company, organized for the purpose of working the mines, and the company will proceed at once to erect furnaces and machinery , for the purpose of smelting tin (St. Louis, The Future Great City of the World, Reavis).
