Modern Nevada Tokens. Seventeen Pieces, some duplication. Over the years, folks have made tokens from some curious places, such as Ione, Olinghouse and Carbon. Are they real? Here’s what I can tell you: Northern Saloon, Ione. This remote mining camp was owned by Doug McDonald in the 1970s and he made a token. Ore House Saloon, Ione. Made by Doug’s predecessor. Manhattan Miners Saloon. 1970s. Carbon, Nevada. Complete fantasy, made for fun for collectors in the same light as the big brass “whorehouse” tokens made by Stan Lucowitz in the 1960s-70s. Frank’s Saloon and Museum: Frank Roza, major Nevada collector, made his own tokens for his house (and shop) in Carson City, circa 1970s.
