Nice old basket, 6.75" diam x 2.75" deep, twined, with simple, geometric design. Rim intact with unclipped weft ends visible inside. The Modoc territory encompassed all of Lost River, Clear Lake and Tule Lake and the southern portion of Klamath Lake, past the falls. The Lost River and its system of lakes and marshes was their main homeland. They currently live between Northeastern California and central Southern Oregon. The Modoc Indians focused primarily on twining to make their baskets from the surface fiber of tule or bulrush. City: State: Date: c.early 1900's HWAC# 32162
