Lot of 13. Rare group. Monarch, located on the western edge of Chaffee County, was founded in 1878 as Chaffee City. It then became Camp Monarch and then just Monarch. It was located about a mile west of the town of Garfield. Monarch did not survive the 1893 Silver Panic. Group includes: two different letterheads for the Silent Friend Mine (1886 and 1887); Eclipse Mine (1889); JW Cummins & Co. General Merchandise (1887); GE Blatchford, Grocer (two from 1889); Abright & Hawkins, Grocers (two different, 1888); MP Robbins, General Merchandise (three from 1889); 1887 one page letter; and Denver & Rio Grande 1888 receipt dateline Monarch.
