Large, 135g high grade gold in quartz and hematite ore specimen. One face is cut and polished with much visible crystalline and leaf gold. The rock is a quartz breccia with goethite and hematite, displaying white quartz with sections of two euhedral crystals. The cut surface measures 2 1/4 x 1 3/4" While no gold was seen on the outside surfaces, the "Nugget Ace" detectorist said his detector was off the chart for iron and precious metal, so he cut the rock open. The Mohawk Mine has produced a number of fine crystalline gold specimens over the years. It is now filled in. It is very difficult to estimate the amount of gold in this rock. Some say an ounce. We dont know. [ Pine Nut Range (Douglas Co.) Nevada
