Eight ledgers from various companies in Montana.
A) Ledger from T & D Apartments in Butte from 1959-63.. This ledger shows individual tenants and their monthly rent payments. Several rent checks are also included in this ledger. 12 x 7.5, good condition, 13 pages are used.
B) Day book from an unknown company in Montana from 1897. This ledger probably came from a general or grocery store. Some of the items being sold include eggs, whisky, beer, and candy, butter, potatoes, coffee, pork, bar soap, etc. An invoice inside the back cover shows that this company was buying meat from H.D. Connell, a butcher in Butte. 11.5 x 7.25, poor condition, front cover and most pages are brittle, torn, folded, or missing pieces.
C) Cash sales book from an unknown general store in Montana. This book shows that this store was selling a variety of goods like eggs, butter, grapes, ribbons, brooms, notebooks, stamps, etc. This store was probably located in Helena because they were depositing money at the American National Bank in Helena. This ledger is from 1912. 14 x 11, approx. 150 pages, 39 are used, good condition.
D) An account book from an unknown company. This account book appears to be from a general store that was selling to other companies and individuals. There are records of merchandise, inventory, expenses, bills payable, bills receivable, customer balances, etc. Some customer names include Tony Medin, Moore & Collins, David Bailey, and W.A. Bancroft. 13.75 x 8.25, approx. 95 pages, good condition except the front cover is detached, spine and back cover are also damaged.
E) Register for an unknown laundry business in Montana. This register gives daily lists of customers and their payment amounts. The first 45 pages of this register have been pasted over with recipes cut out from newspapers. There is also an article about Mrs. C.O. McKnight, a mother of quadruplets, pasted onto the front inside cover. c. 1910-15. 15.5 x 6, good condition, some damage to spine.
F) General ledger from an unknown company from 1919-1921. This ledger shows cash received from various customers, listed alphabetically. 10 x12.5, approx. 150 pages, good condition.
G) General account book of an unknown Montana fraternal group. Has records of membership dues, district dues, expenses, accounts receivable, revenue, etc. They also appear to be renting a dance and music hall. 12.25 x 10, good condition.
H) 1905 cash book of an unknown company, probably in Great Falls. Other companies listed in this ledger include National Laundry, the Minnesota House, and the Cabinet Saloon. 14 x 8.5, approx. 370 pages, good condition.
