This is a manuscript of a novel called "The Devil's Dice Box" by Montana Mae Baker. Miss Baker was a teacher and writer from Butte. Several newspaper articles from the Butte Daily Post state that Baker was also a suffragette who attended the Bull Moose Convention in Chicago in 1912. This manuscript is 217 pages, typed, with handwritten edits. A review of the book published in the Missoulian on June 19, 1910, states that, "It is the farmers of the Deer Lodge Valley in their contest against the Washoe company that gives the title to the book." The article also declares that Baker's "praise for Butte is a gem of literary value." 13..25 x 8.75, good condition.
