Four business ledgers from Montana or North Dakota.
A) Unknown Montana business ledger from 1907. This ledger gives information about the company's purchases, general expenses, freight, advertising, labor, office salaries, patent purchases, rent, transactions with Citizens National Bank, and capital stock. Some names listed in this ledger include F.H. Potter under "Labor" and Taylor McDougall, Walter F. Hass, C.O. Hawley, Elizabeth Rowe McDougall, and Jacob Jacobson listed with capital stock payments. 14 x 9, approx. 450 pages, good condition.
B) YMCA ledger from 1906-08, probably from Missoula. This ledger contains a YMCA membership list on pages 50-52. Members and their dues payments are listed on pages 337-399. The membership dues were 25 dollars per month. Page 31 has a list of accounts paid by the treasurer. Some expenses listed on this page include ice cream, boxing gloves, rent on a piano, and laundry of table clothes. These expenses give a glimpse into the kinds of activities and services the YMCA provided to help young men in a new city. 15.75 x 10.5, approx. 400 pages good condition.
C) Restaurant account book from 1911, probably from Missoula. This ledger lists grocery expenses for this restaurant on pages 1-5. They bought groceries from the Bonner Market, Riverside Market, and Central Market. The rest of the ledger lists patrons and their monthly tabs. Some patrons were eating at this restaurant almost every day. 15.75 x 10.5, approx. 550 pages, poor condition, binding is broken, some pages are stained or dirty.
D) Ledger of Champine and Mooney, a mortgage company in Williston, North Dakota. This ledger is from 1911 and shows transactions with individuals, companies, and banks including the Williams County Bank and Security National Bank. General expenses and salary information are also included in this ledger. 16.25 x 11, approx. 480 pages, good condition, some damage to the covers.
