This shotgun is marked "Montgomery-Ward Co. Chicago" S/N 524XX. It has 30 in. barrels with a spectacular Damascus pattern, double beads, and splinter forearm. The wood is in excellent condition with the usual signs of wear with smooth checkering. The bores are smooth without pitting. The action has two triggers however the safety is frozen in place while the hinge and water-table are solid and tight.. This was a high-grade shotgun made for Montgomery-Ward by either L.C. Smith or Ithica Arms and barrel marked "Montgomery-Ward Co. Chicago". It has a patent date of August-12, 1885 making it one of the earliest hammer-less Damascus shotguns.
