A magnificent whiskey advertising piece used to made for use in a western saloon setting. By the 1960s, tourist intrigue in the famous western saloons rose to new levels, sparking comebacks for places like Virginia City, Tombstone and even Jackson Hole, where tourists flocked to see the mock gun shootouts, musical reviews in saloons and theatres, who all needed realistic props that helped attract tourists. It was difficult to get original whiskey advertising from the 19th century, so enterprising merchants commissioned professional artists to create unique pieces like this, promoting the real, but fantastical, image of the western saloon.
Moon Castle Whiskey advertising oil painting on canvas. At the bottom "now served here at Tombstone's own Birdcage Theater". Beautifully framed, 22.5 x 27". This choice oil painting would make you believe that Moon Castle Whiskey might've been served at the Birdcage Theater in Tombstone. However, Moon Castle Whiskey was never a patent trademark whiskey. We believe this painting to be a fantasy, a wonderful fantasy advertisement to attract people to western saloons and the western saloon historical concept. As such it is a magnificent piece of western culture, and in all probability, an antique.
