Belcher and secretary Lawrence Owen. Not cancelled. Unusual small vignette of smiling moon and much smaller vignette of an elk at the bottom. Printed by Franklin Office, 415 Washington St. 25 IR adhesive revenue stamp attached on the left side. Folds, pinholes. Listed in 1864 Langley with an office at 8 Masonic Temple. Miller & Kingsley are not listed. Owen is listed as the Grand Secretary for the R.A.M. Masonic Temple with the same office as the mining company. The Indian Mining District was discovered in 1861. It was located in nearby Pershing County in the area of Indian Canyon on the east flank of Humboldt Range, south of the Buena Vista district and 8 miles south of Unionville [Tingley]. The Moonlight was among 40 mining properties listed by Stretch in 1866 in the Report of the State Mineralogist. Uncancelled.
