The Morgan Mill was a Carson River mill located just east of Empire City. It was built to process ore from the Yellow Jacket Mine in Gold Hill. In the 1870s, it had 40 stamps and a 75-ton capacity. By the early 1880s, it was operating as a tailings mill. It was one of the many mills taken over by the Pacific Mill & Mining Company, formed by the Bonanza Kings to consolidate milling and mining interests after the Big Bonanza discovery. [Ref: Ansari]
