A collection of about 70 pieces of correspondence from Pony, Montana, mostly related to the firm, Morris and Flint, circa early 1900s. Includes, telegrams, legal papers, summons, invoices and receipts, Masonic letterhead, personal letters, court documents, mining and land speculation, telephone bills, etc. Many are signed by pioneer developer of gold mines in the region, Charles E. Morris and James A. Flint, an attorney. Morris and Flint were partners in Morris and Flint, a firm specializing in mining, real estate, assaying, and insurance, with an office in the Morris State Bank building in Pony. Morris served as director of the bank in 19O2 and became vice president in 1905. In 1902, Flint was appointed by the Department of the Interior to succeed A.W. Noyes as U.S. Land Commissioner for Madison and Gallatin counties. Flint served in this position for nearly 15 years. [ Pony Montana 1902-35
