There are 27 issues of "Cycle Magazine" from Jan. 1951 to 1969 with an emphasis on 1951-1953. Now you can read about motorcycle speed records as they happened! October 1951 has the Areil Square Four as a centerfold with an exploded engine view. January 1952 gives us the road test for the (then) new Harley Davidson model K in 45 cu. in. Editor Bob Greene gives us "the fastest ride of my life" on a Vincent Black Shadow in February 1952. Keep-in-mind that Vincent held the world's fastest land speed record at that time! August of 1952 the Harley-Davidson missile breaks 100 mph. October of 1952 gives an Ariel road test! There ae 17 issues of American Motorcycling. The photography is great, the ads for the new model is great too. IT was all about speed and performance; brakes appear to be an afterthought. c1950s
