Chloride is a forgotten mining area in Churchill County. A February 6, 1907 article in the Reno Evening Gazette says, "The Mountain Cedar Company has opened up its property and is now working three shifts of five men each. The company has a large deposit of ore and is not only doing development work, but is extracting ore for shipment. Some of the ore is high grade and worth hundreds of dollars per ton." # 120, issued for 2,500 shares to H.W. Huskey on September 8, 1906. Signed by president W. L. Bell and secretary B. F. Curler - born in La Plata, Churchill Cunty, Nevada. This was a VERY short-lived mining camp and, from 1865 to 1868, county seat. Chloride is very near La Plata! What an interesting coincidence. Biography on Curler and notes on the mine and mining district are included.
