#54 issued for 300 shares to J. Kennedy Smyth and signed by E. Page Davis as president, and Wm. Wallace Perkins as secretary. Dateline September 10, 1868 in New York. Printed "Echo District, Humboldt County, Nevada." Nice vignette of a group of miners working above ground at top left. Black on white with red seal. 25c Revenue stamp at bottom left. Shares were $10 Each. Total capital $600,000. The certificate has been folded in fourths. Tight top edge trim. RARE. "Presents very bold and fine croppings. A shaft has been sunk on the lower foot wall 33 feet and a drift 22 feet long in solid quart has failed to find the upper wall." [County Assessor Haviland] This district was opposite the Buena Vista district on the western slope of the Humboldt Range about 12 miles northeast of Oreana.
