Mountain Lion by Lawrence Acadiz. 10" h x 5" w x 4" d. Mountain Lion (Toho) is accompanied by the Warrior Maiden (He'e'e) and other guard Katsinam. The Mountain Lion protects the processions during some ceremonies. In spring ceremonies he appears as a dancer. Lawrence LeAllen Acadiz is a well-known and prize-winning Hopi kachina carver. He was born on January 11, 1964, and began carving in 1984. The Arizona State Museum notes, "Born in Tucson and a member of the Deer and Katsina clans of the Hopi tribe, Lawrence's artistic talent was recognized at an early age. [...
