Mountain Queen Mining Company, incorporated in Colorado with principal offices in San Juan County, Colorado & Chicago Illinois. Certificate no. 98 issued to James H Rennington for 4 shares at $100 each on Dec 14, 1888. Signed by Edward A. Burdett as secretary and James H. Fairchild as president, printed in Chicago, not cancelled.
In the center, a very fine and detailed vignette of the production buildings, surrounded by the mountains. The largest building in the center says " Mountain Queen Reduction Works", you can see several carriages transporting ore. To the left, a vignette as a cross-sectional view into the mine with workers digging underground and others on the surface operating the buckets of ore. Right, center, a vignette of miners shoveling dirt into the buckets underground, one worker looking up at his colleagues.
The company was situated in the Eureka Mining District on the west fork of the Animas River, about 3 miles South West of Animas Forks.

James Harris Fairchild (1817- 1902) was also president of Oberlin college and published several book in Philosophy/Theology between 1869 and 1892.
