Two framed Desert Magazine covers featuring the art of Victor Clyde Forsythe, a Southern California artist who once shared a studio with then young artist Norman Rockwell. Forsythe was fascinated with mining history, sometimes living in ghost towns on extended painting trips. The Magazine was founded, edited and published from 1937 to 1958 by Randall Henderson (1888-1970). New editors followed until the magazine closed print publication in 1985. The magazine focused on the desert country of the Southwestern United States and Northwestern Mexico, and covered a broad range of desert subjects. The pictures are bright, full of action and humor, and capture the beauty of the landscape.
