This is a wooden tote marked " Murphy Ranch Whittier 42" measuring 16 in. X 24 in. X 12 in. Evidently the Murphy Ranch of Rustic Canyon was a hide-out for Nazi sympathizers during WW 2 in the Los Angeles area near the Will Rogers State Park. The owners Winona and Norman Stephens with Herr Schmidt built this self contained estate to wait-out the collapse of the United States Government after the fall of Europe to Germany. History tells otherwise. This ranch was raided after the Pearl Harbor attack of December 7, 1941. Interestingly, the box is marked "42". Further research may reveal that the Nazis were not all captured in 1941.
An ammunition box marked "Winchester Super X .30-30 150 grain 1000 rounds" measuring 11 1/2 in. X 15 1/2in. X 6 1/4 in. is included in this lot.
The three fire nozzles are marked " Powhaton B & I Works Ranson, W. VA. NS". These are solid brass at 10 in. long and fit about 1 1/2 in. hose. Powhaton Brass and Iron Works operated until 1966.
