The City of Gunnison got its name from the first known European-American explorer of the area, John W. Gunnison. He was searching for a route for the transcontinental railroad in 1853 and only stayed for three days before traveling west to Utah. With the mining boom, Gunnison began to see an increase of people around the 1870s.
MURRAY BROS./GUNNISON/COLO whiskey coffin flask with collar measuring 7 1/4 inches tall. Purple and beautiful! Knife edge and a neatly applied top. 1 inch rough spot on reverse at base. Great clarity and will likely improve even more with polishing. Very minor nicks at lip. Unmarked base. Preble dates this whiskey pint c. 1893-1901.
Please examine photos and in person to appreciate the beauty.
