This is a nickel plated knuckle duster called "My Friend" in .22 cal. Made by James Reid and Company between 1860-1880. The barrel length is, well, there is no barrel! It is a single action revolver with 7 chambers as a pocket concealed carry gun of its time. There is room in the frame to insert one finger so you don't drop or lose the gun. Hence the term knuckle duster. This one is S/N 5244 on the bottom of the frame and on the back of the cylinder and arbor pin. About 75% nickel finish remains. Engraved frame, smooth cylinder, spur trigger. Non-working order. This is a black powder firearm not to be confused with the modern .22 cal. cartridge. This gun is an antique and no attempt has been made to fire this gun to confirm its mechanical integrity. Nor should this gun be fired without the examination by a qualified gunsmith. Any attempt to fire an antique gun is at the risk of the owner and not consistent with the value of the firearm. No sales to New York, New Jersey, California, and Hawaii. This is an antique, non FFL firearm. Please see photo for details.
