This postcard has an awful lot going for it. One of the most impressive photos of the Rawhide fire we have ever seen. One can see a very black plume of smoke with tents below the smoke and wood building above the smoke. Buildings that have burned to the ground can be seen to the left and above the tents! Johnson was the prolific Rawhide photographer. Back has a Rawhide postmark on September 20th. That would make this the only known double ring cancel after the fire. It was presumed to have burned in the fire? Card is addressed to Miss Anna (?) of Granite, Nevada. Very weak Granite cancel used as a received postmark can be seen. Gamett & Nelson in their book on Nevada postal history only identified ONE Granite postmark. It is also a September 20, 1908 cancel. City: Rawhide / Granite State: Nevada Date: 1908 HWAC# 52979
