A collection of approximately 60 Nevada mining company stock certificates, some with notable autographs.
Lot includes three Montgomery Shoshone Consolidated Mining Company certs, c1910, each for 100 shares issued to Chas. M. Schwab (not signed by Schwab), an American steel magnate. Schwab was a major investor in this mine and died in 1939 before these certificates were canceled.
Also included are: approx. 45 Getchell Mine, Inc. certs, c1940s-60s, all but three signed by Noble Getchell, as president. Getchell served as both Nevada and Arizona state senator. The mineral Getchellite is named after him;
And, two West End Consolidated Mining Co. certs, 1914 & 1923, with the latter signed by the company's vice-president, F.M. Smith, nicknamed "Borax Smith," as his company produced the popular 20-Mule-Team Borax brand of household cleaner;
And, eight Goldfield Consolidated Mines Co. certs, c1907-59, signed by the company's vice-president George Wingfield. George Wingfield (Aug. 16, 1876 – Dec. 25, 1959) was a Nevada cattleman and gambler who became a financier, investor and one of the state's most powerful economic and political figures during the period from 1909 to 1932.
