Extra rare. Pass no. A357, issued for 1928 to CW Carpenter, Chief Lineman for Western Pacific. Countersigned by JC Hickey. Endorsed by Carpenter. Black and red print on yellow paper. The Nevada Northern Railway operated from 1905-1983. It ran from Ely, Nevada to connect with the Southern Pacific Railroad at Cobre. Mark Requa (son to Comstock figure Isaac Requa) owned the important copper mining properties in the area around Ely and realized he needed a way to get his ore to the national rail network. Construction started in Cobre and worked south. Requa drove the final spike (made of Nevada copper) on Sept. 29, 1906. Ely Nevada
